Free Pool Design ("we," "us") operates the pool and backyard planning tool at freepooldesign.com. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, what we do with it, and the choices you have. The short version: the design tool itself needs no account and collects nothing personal — we only receive your contact information if you choose to send it to us, and the only time we share it is when you explicitly ask us to connect you with pool builders.
What we collect
- Your designs. Plans you draw are saved in your own browser's local storage. They are not sent to us unless you submit a form that includes your design (see below).
- "Email me this plan" requests. If you ask us to email you your plan, we collect your email address and a copy of that design so we can send it.
- Quote requests. If you ask to get quotes from local pool builders, we collect what you enter in that form: your name, email, mobile phone number, ZIP code, and project details (project type, timeline, homeownership, budget range), plus a copy of the design you built.
- Consent records. When you submit a quote request, we store the exact consent text you agreed to, the time you agreed, and technical details of the submission (IP address, browser user-agent, and the page you were on). We keep this to document your consent.
- Usage analytics. We use basic analytics to understand how the tool is used (pages viewed, features used, general location by region, device type). Analytics data is not tied to your name or contact details.
How we use your information

- To operate, troubleshoot, and improve the tool.
- To comply with legal obligations and to document consent.
When we share your information with pool builders
This is the heart of our business, so we want it stated plainly: when you submit a quote request, we share your contact information, project details, and your design with a small number of pool builders who serve your area. The consent language on the form tells you, before you submit, how many builders may receive your information and — where we have named partners in your area — who they are. Those builders may call, text, or email you about your project. Message and data rates may apply to texts.
We do not share or sell your contact information in any other circumstance. "Email me this plan" requests are never shared with builders. We do not sell information about people who merely use the design tool.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct it if it's wrong;
- Delete it — including your stored design files and quote request records;
- Know what we've shared and with whom.
To exercise any of these, email [privacy@freepooldesign.com — SPENCER: confirm mailbox]. We will verify your request using the email or phone number on file and respond within 45 days. We will never treat you differently for exercising these rights. Deletion requests remove our copies; builders who already received your information with your consent maintain their own records, and we will tell you who they are so you can contact them too.
Cookies and local storage
The design tool uses your browser's local storage to autosave your work on your own device. Our analytics may set cookies to distinguish visits. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
How long we keep information
Plan-email records are kept until you ask us to delete them. Quote requests and consent records are kept while relevant to the referral and as required to document consent, then deleted on your request or per our retention schedule.
Children
Free Pool Design is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and note the change on this page before it takes effect.
